VEGETABLE IVVORY PINCUSHION, Antique Sewing Item, Intricate Carved Design

Antique SEWING ITEM -- VEGETABLE IVVORY PIN CUSHION -- was likely produced in the early part of the 1900s. This early piece measures approximately 1.75 inches tall and 1.5 inches wide. The pin cushion is made of vegetable ivvory, which has been carved into the shape of a basket. There is a soft fabric-covered ball on the top, in which pins could be stuck during sewing -- there is one pin in there now. It is all original, as far as I can see. Please refer to the attached images for more information on size, construction, and condition. Overall condition: Solid Good/VG..... The pin cushion has a split on one side -- I think this is a common flaw with this material. Otherwise, there is general signs of use and handling expected for its age, including: soiling, surface wear and a few minor dings. It will still display nicely. ***************************************** PLEASE NOTE: I am NOT an expert on vintage sewing items. My mom -- Nancy Moran -- was a longtime collector and she especially loved sewing memorabilia and antique buttons. She is downsizing, so my brother and I am helping her sell some of her collections. I am also not knowledgeable on the hobby criteria in condition grading -- so I use my condition grades in a commonsense manner -- as if grading any collectible -- they are not based on any specific hobby standards.
