I just purchased this vintage Spode jasperware pitcher from a local estate here in Central Virginia. The "sprigged" decor features tavern scenes on three faces done in heavy relief and shows fine detail throughout. The figural twig handle is flanked by hops branches which also show nice detail against the blue matte ground. The pitcher measures 6 5/8" high, 6" wide and 4 ¾" at the top rim. The base bears the pictured "COPELAND SPODE ENGLAND" brown mark (circa 1910). The pitcher is in excellent condition with no damage. This handsome sprigged jug would make a fine addition to your antique Spode or vintage English jasperware collection.
