Description
Bolo tie made from metal, marked sterling on back, leather looking tie measures approx. 38" long, bolo approx. 1.75" high by 1.5" wide at top, wider at top than bottom. Shows usual tarnish ("patina") that silver gets. Back is also marked handmade by (something) Montoya, I was recently contacted by a knowledgeable person who suggested the name is Kee, and I have compared the stamp to other jewelry stamped by this artist and I feel it is similar enough to say this is a Kee Montoya. I did not want to polish off the patina but I did use a spot of polish at the signature to see if I could get a better photo, take a look. Stones in nice shape.I can also say it is marked sterling and the tarnish and green oxidation under the clip would indicate that was true. Tips are also tarnished so I assume they have some silver but I do not see any markings on them.
There was a lot of intricate work that went into this design.
Rare because if you do an internet search for Kee Montoya bolo you will find... this listing. You may find other Navajo jewelry but not a Kee Montoya bolo.
Update, I did recently polish this item to show the design a little better and update the photos, but I think the coral stone looks a little duller than it did before. I am no jeweler, I am not sure, just fyi.
