    Description

Up for auction from my personal collection of 1930s Art Deco powder jars is this very desirable "Lovebirds" piece.
It is frosted satin etched green glass that glows brightly under UV light.  It may be made by L.E. Smith or possibly Jeanette Glass, but that has never been verified.
It measures approximately 4.5" tall x 4.5" wide.
Condition is very good.  There is some roughness and a few tiny chips around the inside mouth of the base (not visible when lid is in place).  The acid etching on the base is a little non-uniform, but this is not visible from the outside.  It appears that the finial was originally painted gold, as there are a few traces of gold in the recesses of the glass. There is one very tiny flea-bite on the inside rim of the lid on the back side (again, not visible when displayed).  Really, it displays beautifully... but I always like to point out any flaws and price items accordingly when they are less than perfect.  See the last few photos.
This piece is featured in the Whitmyer book "Bedroom and Bathroom Glassware of the Depression Era" on pages 18-19.  I especially love the detail of the birds and the little flowers decorating the lid and the base.
If you collect powder jars or bird-themed glass objects, this would be a great addition.
Thanks for looking, and happy collecting!
