    Description of this series:
The Petrom was a quasi-currency from Mendoza that was guaranteed by the oil royalties that corresponded to the province of Mendoza during the 2001 crisis under the government of Eng. Raúl Roberto Iglesias. The petroms had their expiration date on March 30, 2007, when they will be canceled at 135% of their nominal value.
The bonds had a design similar to that of the Lecop in terms of the color of each denomination, although with the drawing of an oil tower with a mountain background, to mark strong characteristics of Mendoza.
The denominations that were printed were 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50. As for their usefulness, they were used to pay provincial taxes, public services, supermarkets, service stations, banks and commerce in general. The Government of Mendoza awarded the printing to the Argentine Mint.
This quasi-currency exhibits various security measures sensitive to touch, sight, and ultraviolet detection processes. Through this last mechanism it is possible to see the silhouette of the Mendoza map while also having a security fund specially designed by the Casa de la Moneda to ensure the inviolability of the letter.
Mendoza thus joins the provinces that have already issued some type of bond. Lecor circulates in Córdoba; in La Rioja, the Evita; in Formosa, the bocanfor; in Chubut, Patagonia; in Chaco, the quebracho; in Entre Ríos, the federal one; in Tucumán, the series 4 of the tucu, and in many of these and other provinces, the national lecop.
